No bad blood here! Sarah Michelle Gellar is finally opening up about the multiple rumors about her alleged feud with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Unfortunately, sorry to those who thought there was more to the story, because, well, the feud is apparently non-existent.
Yes, the rumors came after Gellar attended the premiere of the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” reboot. The film brought back her husband, Freddy Prince Jr., and Hewitt along for the bloody ride. While at the premiere, the “Scooby Doo” couple was pictured multiple times together, and Gellar even posted a few behind-the-scenes photos of the cast at the after-party.
Where is Jennifer Love Hewitt?
Fans quickly noticed that Hewitt was missing from her “photo dump,” with several commenting that the rumors of the fight must be true, since the “9-1-1” star wasn’t in any of them. In her initial post, Gellar wrote, “What a night!!! Still canât believe â¦â¦ years later (no need to date myself) I got to walk the red carpet at another premiere of @ikwydlsmovie Still starring the most handsome man I know @realfreddieprinze but this time directed by my best friend @jennkaytin and written by Jenn and @samlansky I love this movie sooooo much and this cast!!” She went on to thank several crew members, behind-the-scenes helpers, and her glam team, but didn’t include Hewitt in the post.
One user added, “It makes me so sad there is ZERO recognition for Jennifer Love Hewitt.â Another one noted, “The beef is real,” referring to the ongoing so-called feud since the first movie came out. The rumors of the alleged ongoing tension came after Gellar went viral online after being asked back in December if Hewitt was returning as her character, Julie James. Looking a tad frustrated with the question, Gellar responded, “I have nothing to do with that,” before quickly walking off to the next interviewer.
Putting the rumors to rest, Gellar wrote in the comments section, “For everyone asking – I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didnât come to the after party. If you have ever been to one of these itâs crazy.”
She continued, “I sadly didnât get pics with most of the cast. But that doesnât change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately, some things happen only in real life and not online.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar Puts the Feud to Rest
Boom. Mic drop. Can we put this rumor to rest? Have we had enough yet? It looks like it because fans went on to comment back to the actress, with one saying, “I love you so much Sarah â the most unforgettable night!!!!!”
“Thanks for clearing that up queen, was making me a little sad because I love you both so much!,” another truthfully said. Another one added, “No need to explain. Some people just love to feed into false drama.”
Which, in all honesty, we agree with. Some people don’t have anything better to do than point fingers at actors against each other when they really don’t know the truth about every story. The two have been battling this hefty rumor since they starred together in the first “IKWYDLS” film in 1997.
Unfortunately, Gellar’s character was radically killed off, which is why she didn’t join the duo this time around. Still, the film is considered one of the best slasher films of all time, which is why it’s been remade so many times, and let’s face it, will probably be remade again in the near future.
This time around, the new film features Outer Banks’ Madelyn Cline, Tyrique Withers, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, and Jonah Hauer King, who are all followed by the infamous hook killer who, yes, knows what they did last summer.
