<p id=”par-1_60″>In Scheana Shay’s newly released memoir, <em>My Good Side</em>, she revealed she had a brief <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-relationships/?swcfpc=1″>relationship</a> with singer John Mayer. Shay said the pair were briefly involved in 2008, long before the first episode of <em><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/vanderpump-rules/?swcfpc=1″>Vanderpump Rules</a></em> aired. While she said she wanted to keep some parts of their relationship private, she did note that Mayer liked having phone sex. </p>

<p id=”par-2_52″>According to Shay, she met Mayer in 2008, while she was working at his birthday party. He was in an on-and-off <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/john-mayer-has-had-plenty-to-say-about-his-relationship-with-jennifer-aniston.html/”>relationship with Jennifer Aniston</a> at the time, and she was involved <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/scheana-shay-admitted-selfish-handling-eddie-cibrian-affair-thinking.html/”>with actor Eddie Cibrian</a>. Shay said she was very into Mayer despite not fully aligning with some of his preferences.</p>
<p id=”par-3_22″>In <em>My Good Side</em>, she noted that they talked on the phone “a fair amount” because he seemed “really into phone sex.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_21″>“[It] was a first for me and a little awkward, but I was willing to do whatever he wanted,” she wrote.</p>
<p id=”par-5_16″>She said their relationship ended after one of her friends spoke to the press about it.</p>
<p id=”par-6_17″>“Once it was public, he didn’t want to speak to me or see me anymore,” she wrote. </p>

<p id=”par-7_17″>Shay said she withheld some information about her affair in the book out of respect for Mayer.</p>
<p id=”par-8_39″>“I know him and Andy Cohen are <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/tv/john-mayer-rates-andy-cohen-generous-3-wwhl.html/”>very good friends</a>, and I’m not trying to burn any bridges with this book,” she told <a href=”https://people.com/scheana-shay-new-memoir-the-biggest-bombshells-11777638″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>. “I’m just trying to tell my truth and tell enough of it to give context.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_35″>Despite this, Mayer is still likely not pleased. In a 2024 episode of <em>Vanderpump Rules</em>, Shay hinted that she had a threesome with Mayer. Sources say Mayer has denied ever being involved with her, though.</p>

<p id=”par-10_59″>“John has told several people close to him that he never hooked up with Scheana,” a source told the <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.the-sun.com/tv/10890932/vanderpump-rules-scheana-shay-john-mayer-denies-hookup-rumors/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>U.S. Sun</a>. “He knows that she has been telling people they hooked up well before the <em>Vanderpump Rules</em> episode aired and it’s gotten back to him. He’s very annoyed by the entire thing and wants nothing to do with her.”</p>
<p id=”par-11_15″>The source added that Mayer tried to avoid Shay after seeing her at a party.</p>
