More than 15 years after Noel Gallagher branded Scouting For Girls as Scouting For Idiots, frontman Roy Stride isn’t holding a grudge.

Brothers Noel Gallagher, 57, and Liam Gallagher, 52, are getting back together as Oasis for a series of stadium gigs this summer – and Stride, 46, isn’t planning to miss it.

In a recent interview, Stride reflected on Gallagher’s now-infamous 2008 tirade on BBC Radio 1, during which the Oasis guitarist and songwriter slammed just about everyone in music.

While Noel likened Amy Winehouse to a ‘destitute horse’ and accused Mark Ronson of ‘ruining’ his collaborators’ careers, he mockingly renamed Scouting For Girls, Scouting For Idiots.

But Stridebrushed it off, telling Contact Music of the incident in a recent interview: ‘He was like a God.’

‘Did it hurt? Not really. I never heard it. My wife heard it live on radio because I think he said it on Radio 1, but she was like, “Oh, he basically sounded like he’d been out all night and he came in, and was just reviewing every single band, and he was just saying that about every band.”‘

Stride made it clear that he has never retaliated and has no plans to: ‘I would never say anything bad back,’ he added.

Stride is still an Oasis fan, enough of one to spend eight hours trying to snag a ticket to their hotly anticipated reunion tour.

‘I was there for eight hours. I spent my entire day in a bad hotel room trying to get tickets,’ he said.

‘But I’ve since managed to get one because I’m currently in LA and so I’ve got one for the Rose Bowl in California, which is going to be quite a mad thing, because I can’t imagine seeing Oasis in California.’

The Oasis reunion, one of the most highly anticipated comebacks in recent memory, kicks off on July 4 in Cardiff and will span the globe, including stops in North America, South America, Australia, and Asia.

The UK and Ireland leg features support from Richard Ashcroft and Cast, with seven sold-out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Despite their reunion announcement taking the world by storm, rumours have emerged that the pair are still keeping their distance behind the scenes.

Last month, Noel was photographed entering a London rehearsal studio alongside key members of the rumoured live band: Beady Eye alumnus Gem Archer, original Oasis rhythm guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, keyboardist Mikey Rowe, and bassist Andy Bell, who confirmed his return.
