
Actor Sean Astin penned a touching tribute to the late director Rob Reiner.
Astin released the statement through SAG-AFTRA as he is currently the president.
âRob Reiner is one of the most significant figures in the history of film and television,â the lengthy statement began. âThe impact he made on American culture simply canât be overstated.â
The 54-year-old added how much Reiner meant to the entertainment community.
âTributes will pour in and the impossibly long list of genre defining films and indelible performances will play in our minds and hearts. Rob Reiner was a member of our union for nearly 60 years,â he added.
âWe send love and warmth to Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reinerâs families, friends and colleagues. Our entertainment community and audiences around the world will mourn deeply,â the statement added.
The âGooniesâ star also mentioned what Reiner meant to him.
âOn a personal note, so many of Mr. Reinerâs films and performances made me think, made me emotional and especially they made me laugh really hard. Thatâs how I will remember him,â he concluded.

What We Know About the Passing of Reiner & His Wife
On Sunday, December 14, it was announced that Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, were found dead in the Brentwood, California, home.
The two were tragically found by their daughter Romy.
The couple shared three children together, and their son Nick, was taken into police custody on Monday, December 15 and being held on $4 million bail.
In addition to his three children, Rob also adopted daughter Tracy during his first marriage to Penny Marshall.
