Sean “Diddy” Combs was synonymous with opulence, and at the center of his empire was a love affair with luxury spirits. From high-profile parties to red carpet appearances, Combs never hid his taste for a good pour, often raising a glass of Cîroc, the vodka brand he helped catapult into pop culture status. He then partnered with Diageo, which launched in 2007, and he later expanded into DeLeón Tequila.

Combs had high-quality alcohols at his now-infamous White Parties, of course. Hollywood elites gathered at Combs’ place, and they abided by the all-white dress code. In 2018, Combs shared his go-to cocktail recipe with Vogue, which he surely had ready at his holiday gatherings.

“My favorite cocktail is the new French Vanilla Cîroc flavored coquito,” the mogul explained. “You need some French Vanilla Cîroc, need some coquito, and you need some holiday spirit.” Coquito is a traditional Puerto Rican Christmas drink made with dark rum, coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, and cinnamon.

For the warmer months, Combs has made it known that he prefers Cîroc vodka with Simply Lemonade. His preference for Cîroc makes sense, as he became the face of the brand in 2007. Combs struck a partnership with Diageo to help develop and expand the vodkas. Combs’ parties were likely well-stocked with Cîroc products.

Sean “Diddy” Combs once got candid on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2002 when discussing all of the alcohol he required to throw a party.

“OK, now, we need alcohols, right? Alcohols,” Combs explained, emphasizing the “S.”

“Not just one alcohol …,” Conan O’Brien said.

“Alcohols,” Combs corrected. “You need some water. I don’t know if guys have noticed this, but a lot of ladies drink water at parties, so if you don’t have what they need, they’re going to leave. Gotta keep them there. Need locks on the doors.”

“This is sounding kind of dangerous now,” O’Brien joked as the audience laughed.

“It’s a little kinky!” Combs verified. He then added that he wanted his parties to have no air conditioning, as “heat affects the alcohol … everybody gets a little more comfortable.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ partnership with Diageo, the spirits giant behind Cîroc and DeLeón Tequila, began to publicly unravel in 2023. Combs filed a lawsuit accusing the company of racial discrimination and neglecting his brands. But as lawsuits against Combs himself gained traction, Diageo swiftly severed ties, citing his conduct as inconsistent with the company’s values. The split marked a dramatic fall from grace for a mogul who had built his lifestyle and legacy around luxury spirits.

As of January 2024, Combs and Diageo “agreed to resolve all disputes between them.”

“Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice,” a statement shared with <a href=”https://variety.com/2024/music/news/sean-diddy-combs-diageo-resolve-legal-dispute-1235873712/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Variety reads. “Diageo and Mr. Combs have no ongoing business relationship, either with respect to Cîroc vodka or DeLeón tequila, which Diageo now solely owns.”
