Garcia and Keaton’s friendship extended beyond the screen. For example, when Keaton received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute in 2018, Garcia was one of the many actors on hand to congratulate her. In one photo, “The Untouchables” star even gave his fellow performer a friendly kiss on the cheek on her big night.

Speaking of kisses, the actors once shared an on-screen smooch. As Keaton shared in an episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” it was a memorable experience. “I got to be with Andy Garcia for a few minutes, it was really fun for me,” she said. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Keaton appearance without a joke: “He had to kiss me, too,” she added light-heartedly. Over the years, the pair shared the screen in three movies, giving them plenty of opportunities to build their friendly bond.

Although Keaton’s cause of death initially remained a mystery, sources shared that her health had declined in the months before that fateful day. “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” an anonymous friend explained to People. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”

Fans will undoubtedly remember Keaton for that strength and spirit, as well as her sense of humor and fun sense of style. Although the world has lost her forever, her legacy will live on through her extensive catalog of beloved films.
