Erin Murphy

More than half a century after they first appeared together on screen, Erin Murphy and Johnny Whitaker have reunited—bringing fans right back to one of “Bewitched’s” most imaginative episodes.

Murphy, now 61, is beloved for her role as Tabitha Stephens, the daughter of Samantha and Darrin on the hit ABC sitcom.

Whitaker, 65, was a familiar face in the 1960s and ’70s, starring in “Family Affair” and films such as “Tom Sawyer”. But in 1968, he stepped into the magical world of “Bewitched” for a one-off guest appearance in the episode “Tabitha and the Beanstalk.”

The storyline, which aired in Season 4, followed young Tabitha as she used her powers to bring the fairy tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk” to life.

Whitaker played Jack, creating one of the show’s most memorable fantasy sequences. At the time, Murphy was just a child, splitting the role of Tabitha with her twin sister, Diane, before eventually taking it on solo.

Murphy Shares the Sweet Image to Social Media

Now, 56 years later, the two former child actors stood side by side once again.

Murphy shared the moment on social media on Monday, September 22, posting a photo with Whitaker and captioning it with a nod to their shared history.

She captioned the post with, “Always fun to catch up with my famous Bewitched costar. Do you recognize him?”

Fans instantly recognized the connection and flooded her page with comments celebrating the reunion.

“He gave Tabitha’s mortal grand Maw-Maw Mrs.Stephens a sick headache,” one user commented.

Another added, “Omg! I love this picture of you and Johnny, it’s just perfect.”

The nostalgia continued as many added he was also in the classic “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.”

“Ask him how Sigmund the Seamonster is doing these days!” another wrote.

Murphy Reflects on Her Iconic Role

The former child star has nothing but fond memories of her time starring in the heartwarming show.

She told Closer Weekly in February 2025 that the experience on “Bewitched” was a blast.

“The whole thing was fun,” she recalled. “I liked the episodes most where there were other kids and animals.”

She also shared numerous sweet memories she made with the cast while filming.

Murphy recalled how Elizabeth Montgomery, who played her mother in the show, was incredibly maternal while on set.

“She would even scold me like a parent,” she told the outlet. “If I was being silly, she’d call me ‘Erin Margaret,’ just like my mom would.”
