Selling Sunset Season 9 is officially on the horizon, and The Oppenheim Group is ready to turn up the heat once again. While Netflix has yet to confirm a release date, the cast has been dropping hints that filming is underway. Fans can expect to see cast members Mary Bonnet, Chrishell Stause, Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, Nicole Young, and Bre Tiesi return, with tensions running high between Chrishell and Nicole following their past conflicts. While Davina Potratz left Selling Sunset, she gave insights about the cast’s glam costs ahead of season 9. Here’s what she revealed.

‘Selling Sunset’ star Davina Potratz spilled about the costs of glamming up the cast

Davina Potratz was a polarizing figure on Selling Sunset, known for her candid demeanor and occasional clashes with co-stars. After leaving the Oppenheim Group in 2020 for a new opportunity at Douglas Elliman, she returned to the brokerage in season 4, though her appearances remain limited. In season 6, she made brief appearances, including attending Heather Rae El Moussa’s baby shower and Emma Hernan’s open house.

Despite her reduced screen time, Davina remains active in the real estate industry and has expressed interest in returning to the show under certain conditions. Ahead of Selling Sunset Season 9, she spoke with <a href=”https://www.casino.ca/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Casino.ca about her experience with filming the series. She admitted that looking her best didn’t come cheap. According to Davina, it costs “$1,000 to $2,000” per Selling Sunset look. “It’s a lot,” she admitted. “And you film many, many scenes, and not all the scenes get used.”

Davina noted that the cast members appear to “make more of an effort” in their appearance as the seasons progress. She also noted that the cast pays for their hair and makeup.

“We take it much more seriously, and we’re spending more money on it,” she noted. “It’s also fun, but we had to pay for all our own hair, makeup, and clothing. Then the fashion became almost like another character on the show. I think people got inspired by Christine a lot, too, in her fashion. But I firmly believe everyone has to be who they are, not copy them. I think you can start to see when people are trying to emulate, and I think that’s not the best way to go, but I think you should be who you are.”

Selling Sunset creator Adam DiVello confirmed what Davina Potratz revealed about who pays for the cast’s looks.

“The only days that we provide glam are on interview days where they sit on the sofa and talk to the camera,” he told <a href=”https://variety.com/video/selling-sunset-chrishell-emma-adam-divello/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Variety, “but the rest of the time, that’s all them.”

DiVello revealed that he wanted the cast to dress themselves to make the show more realistic — and we imagine the realism extends into Selling Sunset Season 9.

“I made that decision really early on, in their day-to-day, that we’re not providing anything,” he said. “Because how you dress, and what you wear, and the bag you carry, and the shoes you wear, that’s all a representation of you. That’s your personal style, and I didn’t want to mess with that.”

Davina Potratz admitted that she didn’t want to look like she was ‘going clubbing’ while at work

Selling Sunset star Davina Potratz told Casino.ca that her personal work style differed greatly from what some of the other women at The Oppenheim Group chose to wear.

“I came from a serious real estate background,” she told Casino.ca, adding that she “was dressed to sell real estate. I wasn’t going clubbing. Certain people were dressed like they were going to a party. So it was like, oh, this is weird. But it’s also a TV show.”

Previously, Selling Sunset Season 9 star Emma Hernan said on <a href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHa2uO5A47I” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Viall Files that she knows she’s expected to “step it up” in terms of her fashion each season. “I remember coming to the office, and I wanted to wear jeans, [and I was told] jeans are not the vibe,” she said. Thankfully, she embraced the over-the-top office looks. “I slowly learned that it’s extra,” Emma noted. “I love dressing up, so for me, it’s like I get to play dress up — I don’t mind it.”
