Selling Sunset viewers have been left furious after binge-watching season eight, accusing Romain Bonnet of ‘inappropriately touching’ Chelsea Lazkani on camera.

The latest series of the hugely popular show dropped on Netflix last week, with many reeling after all of the drama unfolding – and that cameo from Joey Essex.

While the program was dramatic than ever, and included a glimpse of Chelsea’s marriage to her husband, Jeff Lazkani, breaking down, fans couldn’t get over one particular scene concerning the real estate agent and the project manager, who is married to Mary Fitzgerald.

In the third episode, most of the Oppenheim Group gang got together to celebrate Amanza Smith’s birthday at a swanky party, where Mary pulled Chelsea aside in an attempt to squash their previous issues.

However, things took a turn when the tension escalated, leading to Romain stepping in to defend his wife while physically touching his co-star’s shoulders – something that those watching on from home were completely shocked by.

Rushing to unpack the row on Twitter, many branded the scene ‘uncomfortable’ and alleged that he was ‘intimidating’ her with the move.

TheSaint2028 fumed: ‘I don’t like Mary Bonnet at all. And why is Mary’s husband inserting himself into these women’s argument? Why is he touching Chelsea?

‘It is completely out of line and inappropriate to be putting his hands on her in any way. Not acceptable! #SellingSunset.’

‘I don’t like how Romain was touching Chelsea and not letting her talk while she and Mary were arguing. He should have stayed tf out of it. #SellingSunset [sic],’ Ashley Tune agreed.

Nathan Blundell penned: ‘One of the biggest things that made me uncomfortable with this series of Selling Sunset was when Romain was putting his hands on Chelsea when she was airing it out with Mary. Like wtf.’

Ashley Shannet tweeted: ‘Romain putting his hands on Chelsea…Gross! So inappropriate ..Stay out of women’s affairs sir #SellingSunset.’

‘Watching Romain grab Chelsea’s hands as she’s talking, putting his hands on her shoulder & standing right next to her as though to intimidate her as tries to have a conversation with Mary is so beyond uncomfortable,’ Sweet Honey said.

‘This is why I hate men being in women’s business #SellingSunset.’

As Ecinreb praised: ‘Chelsea’s class is amazing because I would have losttttttttt it [sic].’

Romain has not addressed the backlash publicly, while Chelsea has retweeted posts slamming his actions.

The series premiered on Netflix on Friday and focused a lot on her marriage breakdown, and continued feud with colleague Bre Tiesi – who dropped bombshell allegations that her husband was unfaithful.

She also clashed with Mary multiple times as they worked together on a luxurious property, including a controversial argument about whether her outfit for a work event was appropriate.

Selling Sunset has stormed up the platform’s Top 10 chart and is currently in second place, with fans calling out for a reunion so that controversial moments can be addressed properly.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Romain and Netflix for a comment.

Selling Sunset is available to stream on Netflix now.
