The popular BBC chat show programme The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show has been shelved after only two series – and despite its recent promotion to primetime.

Led by Chris Ramsey and wife Rosie, both 37, the show debuted on BBC Two in 2022.

It proved so popular with audiences and executives that it was bumped up to BBC One after impressing with its exceptional ratings.

The format sees the married comedians invite other celebrity couples onto the show for candid gossip about life, relationships and the pressures of fame and family.

Past guests include Katherine Ryan and her husband Bobby Kootstra, Jack Whitehall and his father, Ronan Keating and wife Storm, and Martin and Shirley Kemp.

It was expected to return for a third series, but those plans have unexpectedly fallen through – with the show being abruptly shelved.

The sudden hiatus of The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show comes as the pair were unable to find the time to make a third series.

An insider told The Sun: ‘The BBC absolutely love Chris and Rosie. They’re a hilariously entertaining duo, but most importantly, they’re real.

‘They want to continue producing The Chris and Rosie Ramsey Show for audiences but due to schedule clashes, they can’t make it work right now.

‘While the show has been paused for now, behind-the-scenes BBC are continuing to look at ways the show can continue with Avalon.’

The husband-and-wife duo both met as teenagers, aged 14.

Later attending the same college, they didn’t really hit it off until chemistry took its course at a local nightclub in 2012. They were married two years later, in 2014.

As Chris’s career in stand-up comedy began to take off, the pair founded their podcast together, Sh**ged Married Annoyed, which they used to discuss the trials and tribulations of marriage from a comedic perspective.

The success of the podcast led to the pair taking it on Arena tours across the UK in 2021, and to the founding of their BBC chat show.

The couple share two children together, Rosie, 10 and Rafe, three. Sadly, Rosie suffered a devastating miscarriage after trying for their second child.

Speaking to Vicky Pattinson on the podcast The Secret To, Rosie said: ‘I found out at the 12-week scan that I’d actually lost the baby.

‘It’s called a blighted ovum which is a missed miscarriage… honestly, I don’t want to sound dramatic, but it was one of the worst things that have ever happened in my life.’

As of 2022, the couple are reported to share a net worth of £5-10million, according to The Mirror.

They share a £1.5million mansion in a rural village not far from South Shields – where they were both raised – boasting six bedrooms and a library.
