Thursday night’s episode began with the campmates reacting to the news that 72-year-old Ruby Wax was the fifth contestant to be axed from the show.

Her departure left the star’s ‘gobsmacked’ with Ginge covering his eyes, seemingly in tears.

Ginge then commented: ‘Absolutely gutted. She was amazing, she kept me going in here through our conversations, our laughs, I already miss her. She was just amazing.’

Tom Reid Wilson told the camera: ‘I think the whole group, including Ruby, were absolutely gobsmacked.’

A shocked Jack Osbourne said: ‘Ruby, to me, was the winner of this thing.’

As they waved Ruby off across the bridge, Lisa, who had been sharing a room with the American star, burst into tears.

I’m A Celebrity returns tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
