Laura Vandervoort just tied the knot!
Best known for her role as Supergirl on âSmallville,â she has married businessman Adam Coates in a ârustic and elevatedâ wedding at Langdon Hall Country House, Hotel & Spa, in Ontario, according to PEOPLE.
The pair, who legally wed in a backyard ceremony earlier this summer, celebrated their larger nuptials Sept. 6 with about 90 family members and friends.
Vandervoort, 40, said the couple wanted the day to feel âwarm and welcomingâ rather than overly extravagant.
The actress chose to walk down the aisle with both parents, a gesture she described as deeply important.
The couple wrote and exchanged personal vows before exiting to Coldplayâs âA Sky Full of Stars.â
A Sweet Reception
A standout personal detail came during the reception.
Instead of standard place cards, attendees found jars of homemade jam labeled with their names and table numbers, highlighting the pairâs weekend jam-making ritual.
“Adam and I began making jam at home once we began living together. It became a cute activity for us on weekends,” Vandervoort told the outlet. “Adamâs mom, Jan Coates, makes an incredible family jam and we wanted to try to replicate it. After that, we started experimenting with different flavors.”
The two also decided to forgo a cake and instead have a candy table. Vandervoort explained that they are obsessed with all types of candy.
âWe are candy fanatics and felt a late-night candy table (from SweetEvent) would be the perfect way to make it our own,” she added.
The Two Became Engaged in 2023
Vandervoort and Coates first connected on a dating app before Coates proposed on Sept. 22, 2023, Vandervoortâs birthday, during a rooftop sunset photoshoot.
Following the proposal, he surprised her with a gathering of 30 friends and family members at their home.
At the time, Vandervoort shared her excitement on Instagram, writing: “Well⦠we have some news!! My birthday last week became more than a celebration of another trip around the sun⦠it became a celebration of our forever!!!!!!!”
She added, “There is no one Iâd rather do life with,â in the sweet message alongside a carousel of images from the day.
While speaking with PEOPLE, Vandervoot gushed about her now-husband.
âI love that we are best friends first and foremost, partners in crime. I love our little family we have created with the pups, our routines and all the goofiness that comes with it,â she said. âI am grateful to have finally found my soulmate and canât wait to share the rest of forever with him.”
