It’s currently ranked at number eight in Netflix’s top 10 series in the UK today, ahead of Nobody Wants This and The Bad Guys: Breaking In.

The period drama was released on November 6 and stars Matthew Macfadyen as Guiteau, and Michael Shannon as the nineteenth-century president, James A Garfield.

The creator and writer of Death by Lightning, Mike Makowsky, based the series on the book Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, explaining to Netflix’s Tudum that Millard ‘made a really, really potent case that this man would have been one of our great presidents’.
