Former footballer Karen Carney suffered a slip during Strictly Come Dancing’s live show after a bum spin during Saturday’s performance.

Carney, 38, danced the quickstep alongside her partner, Carlos Gu. It was the opening performance of the night, soundtracked to Marvellous Party by Beverley Knight.

After she performed an impressive bum spin, she tripped slightly getting up from the floor.

Carney continued with her performance and finished the dance seemingly unfazed by the mistake.

The duo were awarded 27 from the judges, placing them ninth on the leaderboard.

Despite her small faux pas, Strictly fans complained that Carney was ‘undermarked’.

The judges praised her, but didn’t pass on the opportunity to mention the slip.

Shirley Ballas made a bold statement: ‘You did the bum spin at the end; funnily enough, that was one of the best bum spins I’ve seen.

‘Did you have a little slip at the end? Yes. Did you recuperate? A*, absolutely. Well done.’

Anton Du Beke agreed that she handled it well: ‘To come out of the bum spin and then have that slip and go straight into that Charleston bit, just showed the great weeks that you’ve had – really professional and really focused.

‘It wasn’t thrown off at all by it, I love it’.

Motsi Mabuse said: ‘There was a slip on the dress, but I forgive that. That was grand.’

Craig Revel Horwood also commented: ‘Well, slipping happens to the best of us, darling. Oh yes, guilty.

‘But recovery is important, darling. At least I didn’t faceplant and neither did you.’

Revel Horwood nearly slipped Strictly’s October 4 show, during a skit performing some of the Charleston as Tess Daly introduced Balvinder Sopal’s dance.

Many agreed, including @romyeze who wrote: ‘It was undermarked, that sometimes happens to the couple who dance first.’

Others called for Carney to be receiving 8s. @m.lucia222 commented: ‘Under-bloody-marked, what’s their beef with Karen? She deserved 8’s for this.’
