A former Strictly Come Dancing star has revealed that she is still ‘triggered’ by a specific part of the show 17 years later.
Kate Garraway, 58, reunited with her former professional dance partner Anton du Beke on Strictly It Takes Two on BBC Two earlier this week.
However, despite insisting that she still ‘loves’ the competition, the Good Morning Britain explained what made her feel ‘sick’.
The journalist and broadcaster, who was recently a part of BBC’s Celebrity Traitors, competed in the fifth series of the ballroom competition.
Speaking to host Janette Manrara about Strictly, she said: ‘I love it. Although I’m still slightly triggered from the opening music. 17 years ago I was on the show and I still feel sick every time I hear it!’

Giving advice to Vicky Pattison and Kai Widdrington, she explained how they need to show ‘fierceness and passion’ in their Tango.
‘The judges said I looked like I was coming round from a general anaesthetic when I did mine,’ she quipped. ‘I just went into a zone rather than fierce.’
Garraway became a fan favourite on The Celebrity Traitors, which came to a thrilling conclusion on Thursday.
Following her banishment, however, Kate opened up about her experiences filming in the Scottish highlands and how a bond with one fellow player prompted her to explore a possible condition.
‘Talking to people like Cat about their music and about their life—she’s autistic and ADHD, and I’ve got that in my family,’ Kate began.
‘And actually, I’m in the process of an ADHD diagnosis myself.
‘In fact, I think it’s pretty clear I am.’
‘So it’s fascinating to see how it manifested for her,’ she added to The Sun On Sunday.
The final of the hugely popular gameshow amassed a whopping 11 million viewers, becoming the biggest TV episode of 2025 so far before data from iPlayer was added on.
