An exasperated Susanna Reid condemned Ed Balls live on television after he praised Lorraine Kelly’s ‘pair of buns’.
The Good Morning Britain presenters introduced Lorraine’s upcoming breast cancer special Change + Check episode on ITV1.
Lorraine, 65, who has posed topless in a bid to raise awareness about breast cancer, urged people to check themselves to spot early signs of cancer.
She also revealed how in her upcoming show she was going to do a live breast examination and speak to Junior Health Minister Ashley Dalton MP as well as Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden and her partner Thomas Skinner.
However, after Susanna began to say goodbye to Lorraine, Ed chimed in by saying: ‘Great pair of buns there I thought.’
Lorraine, who was laughing, replied: ‘You needed big ones Ed. Considerably big ones.’

Ed responded again, joking: ‘They look like those buns have risen beautifully.’
However, despite Lorraine saying ‘they have, thank you’, before shaking her chest, an awkward period of silence ensued.
As Susanna stared at Ed with a thunderous expression, Ed asked: ‘What?’, while a few staff in the background could be heard laughing.
Susanna then explained: ‘You know we’re on television,’ as Ed responded: ‘I know. I’m just joining in.’
Taking to social media, some viewers were left feeling uncomfortable after the incident.

Discussing her topless shoot in aid of the National Check Your Boobs Day, Lorraine said: ‘I just loved this idea. It’s cheeky and funny and is a nod to the wonderful Calendar Girls.
‘It also gave me the chance to say the iconic line “we’re going to need considerably bigger buns”.’
Explaining what it was like to pose topless, she added: ‘I didn’t feel in any way vulnerable or uncomfortable as I was with my team, who are my friends, and our amazing photographer had also gone through breast cancer herself.
‘My editor Victoria asked if I was comfortable being filmed and I told her I was fine, but to check with the crew in case they would be traumatised!!
‘It was all very light-hearted, and after all, it’s all about getting the Change + Check message across.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX, followed by Lorraine at 9am.
