Sydney Sweeney may have been privately navigating heartbreak, but on set, the actress proved sheâs a consummate professional.
The 27-year-old “Euphoria” star was in the midst of ending her seven-year relationship with fiancé Jonathan Davino when filming began for her upcoming movie “The Housemaid.”
Sydney Sweeney Stayed Professional During Breakup
Director Paul Feig praised Sweeney for her focus and talent, telling the Wall Street Journal that she never let her personal life affect her work.
âShe was completely present emotionally,â Paul shared in the Aug. 20 interview. âJust up for anything, and really didnât bring any issues to set.â
Feig admitted that he was aware Sweeney was facing challenges in her personal life, including the end of her engagement. âAnd I know she was going through some things when this was going onâI mean, now everybody knows about her engagement falling apart and breaking off and all that,â he explained.
Even with the rumors swirling, Sweeney remained composed. âIâd say, âHey, are you OK?â and sheâd go, âIâm fine, Iâm great!â but not defensively,â Paul recalled.
Sweeney herself confirmed the split during a May 31 interview with The Times. When asked if a wedding was still on the horizon, she responded simply, âNo.â Asked if she was single, the actress replied, âYes.â She added, âIâm learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And Iâm loving it.â
The ‘Euphoria’ Star Is Focusing On Work And Future Projects
According to People, insiders say Sweeney and Davinoâs relationship had been ârocky for a long time.â The source explained that while the relationship left her overwhelmed, Sydneyâs career is where she feels most grounded.
âSheâs exactly where she wants to be,â the insider said. âMost people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. Sheâs all about working right now and very excited about all her projects. What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding. She didnât feel right about it.â
Sweeney is certainly keeping busy. In addition to leading “The Housemaid,” based on the bestselling novel, she will portray real-life boxer Christy Martin and screen star Kim Novak in upcoming films. And, of course, a new season of “Euphoria” is also in the works.
âSheâs in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago. This is what she wants to focus on right now,â the insider added, noting that Sydney is ânot ready to settle down.â
