Swift has experienced public backlash before, even at the height of her career. Years before this, though, while she was still growing as an artist, she said she lived in constant fear of her luck changing.</p>

<p id=”par-4_29″>While she didn’t stress about standing in front of her fans, she did worry about losing them. It didn’t feel possible that she could maintain her dream life forever.</p>
<p id=”par-5_42″>“But you know what does freak me out?” she asked. “When is the other shoe going to drop? I am so happy right now. So I am always living in fear. This can’t be real, right? This can’t really be my life.”</p>

<p id=”par-8_45″>“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” she told <a href=”https://time.com/6342806/person-of-the-year-2023-taylor-swift/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Time</a>. “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”</p>

<p id=”par-12_32″>“I think I have a big fear of things spiraling out of control,” she told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/taylor-swift-in-wonderland-180107/” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rolling Stone</a>. “Out of control and dangerous and reckless and thoughtless scares me, because people get hurt.”</p>
<p id=”par-13_17″>Still, she didn’t think that wanting this level of control over her life was a bad thing.</p>
<p id=”par-14_75″>“When you say ‘control freak’ and ‘OCD’ and ‘organized,’ that suggests someone who’s cold in nature, and I’m just not,” she said. “Like, I’m really open when it comes to letting people in. But I just like my house to be neat, and I don’t like to make big messes that would hurt people. . . . I don’t want to let people down, or let myself down, or have a lot of people that I know I wronged.”</p>
<p id=”par-15_22″>At the time, Swift said she was not in therapy. Instead, she turned to her mother when she started to feel overwhelmed.</p>
