Power couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were missing in action at the 2025 Met Gala. The lovers skipped out on fashion’s biggest night despite being invited by the event’s committee.
TMZ reported that Swift and Kelce decided not to attend the star-studded fundraiser due to their busy and conflicting schedules. Fans would’ve loved to see the couple on the blue carpet, slaying this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
The last time Swift graced the Met Gala was in 2016 when she served as a co-chair for the event. That year, she wore a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble that aligned with the technology-inspired theme “Manus v Machina.”
Swift and Kelce weren’t the only high-profile names missing from the 2025 Met Gala. Celebrity couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds also skipped the event, along with other A-listers such as Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga.
Taylor & Travis Keeping It Low-Key
GettySwift and Kelce have been noticeably keeping a low profile lately. The last time they were spotted together was back on March 14, during a date night in New York City.
In April, PEOPLE reported that Swift and Kelce are enjoying some downtime following the end of the NFL season and the singer’s Eras Tour. The source noted:
They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoy it. They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It’s a special time for them.
Are Taylor & Travis Ready to Settle Down Soon?
GettySwift and Kelce first sparked dating rumors in September 2023. At the time, it was said that their relationship was casual and that the two were simply having fun.
Nearly two years later, the couple is still very much in love and stronger than ever. In February, Us Weekly reported that the singer and NFL star are “on the same page about taking the next step,” but are not rushing it. The outlet also reported that they’ve talked about buying a home together in Kansas City.
Previously, there were talks that Kelce would pop the big question to Swift if the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. At the time, he was asked by the reporters if he’d propose during the halftime show. Kelce playfully responded, “Wouldn’t you like to know.”
But Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, thinks it’s best if his son would get down on one knee in private, adding that their “engagement needs to be separate from any other event.”
So far, both Kelce and Swift have been tight-lipped about whether they’re planning to settle down anytime soon. Fans will have to wait and see if the couple will take the next step in their relationship.
