Ted Lasso SHOCKER- Which Main Character Won’t Return?

Jason Sudeikis, Phil Dunster

Jason Sudeikis and his costars are back on the set, shooting the much-anticipated season four of beloved Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.”

That is, MOST of his costars.

Apple TV delighted “Ted Lasso” fans with a new Instagram post showing “Ted Lasso” title character Jason Sudeikis sitting in a round restaurant booth with Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins).

The post’s caption teased, “We’re not in Richmond anymore. Ted Lasso Season 4 is now in production.”

But one main character did not have a seat at that table, and won’t be returning to the soccer field as a regular cast member either.

New Season of ‘Ted Lasso’ Will Be Missing One Main Character

According to Deadline, Phil Dunster, who played soccer star Jamie Tartt on the first three seasons of the show, will not be a series regular in season four.

And the reason seems to be a scheduling conflict.

Phil Dunster has reportedly signed on to be a regular in a new HBO project.

That project is headed up by “Ted Lasso” executive producer Bill Lawrence.

But we may yet see Jamie Tartt return, at least in a guest-starring role if his schedule allows.

The majority of the main cast is returning, but there will be plenty of new faces as well.

Apple TV+ says six new stars are joining the show. They are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern.

The role of Ted Lasso’s son Henry, has also been recast.

11-year-old Gus Turner, who played Henry in the first three seasons, has been replaced by Grant Feely.

‘Ted Lasso’ Season Four Is Full of Plot Twists

The first three seasons of “Ted Lasso” took place in England. The title character came from America to coach AFC Richmond soccer club. But the upcoming season switches things up a bit.

According to a synopsis of season four, “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

Filming for season 4 is already underway. It will reportedly split time between London and Kansas City, according to Apple TV+.

An Apple TV+ press release titled “Believe,” announced the return of “Ted Lasso” for season four. In it, Jason Sudeikis said, “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap, in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
