‘The Incredibles 3’ Production Takes a Big Step Forward

Pixar is ready to leap back into the world of “The Incredibles.”

Fans of Pixar’s second most popular franchise will be happy to know the movie is in more than capable hands.

Once Again, With Feeling

Peter Sohn – director of the sleeper hit “Elemental” – will helm the movie. Sohn also led the less than stellar performing “The Good Dinosaur.”

Pixar was not previously known for doing sequels. The storied animation studio was once known for creating one-off movies with A-list casts. Now, they mine their intellectual property to great effect.

“Toy Story,” “Monsters Inc.,” “Cars,” and “Inside Out” are among the other franchises in the studio’s history.

“Coco” is set to join the fray with its own sequel coming in 2029.

Still No Capes

“The Incredibles” follows Bob and Helen Parr, retired superheroes who are pulled back into action when a super fan turned supervillain draws them out. They are joined by their three kids – Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack – who developed powers of their own.

The second movie, aptly titled “The Incredibles 2,” features the family fighting a cybercriminal bent on hypnotizing the world.

Not much else is known about the third movie. But series writer Brad Bird (who also directed the first two movies) is working on the script.

Bird and Sohn have worked together many times over with the latter having worked on every animated project of the former. Bird even chose Sohn to take over the third “Incredibles” movie personally.

At the moment, Pixar is set to release their latest effort, “Elio,” later in June.
