His victory has been widely celebrated, including recognition from the Scottish Parliament for breaking barriers.
The hosts also discussed the upcoming special, Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years, set to air on Saturday, December 21, at 7 pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
As the final credits rolled, Alex Jones expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience: ‘We just wanted to say thank you so much to tonight’s guests and thank you to all our guests and contributors who have taken part in the show this year and thanks to everybody who works so hard behind the scenes to put this show together.

Its been a controversial year for the show, with former host Jermaine Jenas being taken off air and sacked by the BBC after complaints were made that he ‘sent unsolicited texts to a female staff member at The One Show’.
The 41-year-old former Match of the Day regular later apologised if he made the women he messaged feel uncomfortable and insisted that he never broke the law.
But it seems the show is back on track now and set to make a fresh start in the new year.
