Michelle Obama has tragically revealed that she and her husband, President Barack Obama, had plans to meet with Rob Reiner and his wife Michele on the night of Sunday, December 14. But those plans were disrupted, because as you know, both Rob and Michele were stabbed to death earlier that day, and later discovered deceased in their Brentwood home by their 28-year-old daughter, Romy.

The Reiner’s 32-year-old son, Nick, is currently suspected of the crime, and is being held without bond at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, per ABC 7.

During her December 15 “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearance, Michelle said of the Reiners, “We’ve known them for many, many years. And we were supposed to be seeing them that night.”

Michelle Obama Fondly Remembers Rob & Michelle Reiner

Michelle had lots of praise for the A-list director and his wife, saying, “Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know.”

She continued, “They are not deranged or crazed. What they are, and what they have always been, are passionate people who in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on, they were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about. They cared about their family, and they cared about this country. And they cared about fairness and equity.”

Michelle then reiterated, “That is the truth. I do know them.” Michelle’s comments were met with enthusiastic applause from Kimmel’s studio audience.

Nick Reiner Checked Into a Hotel After the Day of the Murders

TMZ reported on December 15 that the Reiner’s 32-year-old son Nick, whom the Los Angeles police have named as the suspect, checked into a Santa Monica hotel in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14, the day the crime took place. He checked in around 4 a.m., hours after being seen arguing with his father at a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien.

The outlet says they learned from “sources with direct knowledge” that the hotel staff found blood in the hotel room at some point after he left. On Monday, the LAPD Robbery Homicide division visited the hotel to interview employees and collect evidence in the case.

Nick was missing for a short time after the murders, but police found him Sunday night in Exposition Park, which is located near downtown Los Angeles. The outlet says he has been placed on suicide watch in jail.
