<p id=”par-1_95″>The <em><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/teen-mom/”>Teen Mom</a></em> franchise has been a massive success for MTV. For more than a decade, fans have tuned in to see how the teenage mothers navigate the trials and tribulations of having kids when they, themselves, were still kids. While the production value has always been quite good, fans have long bemoaned a somewhat peculiar phenomenon. Every so often, a main cast member would appear in a scene wearing a very obvious wig. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/teen-mom-kailyn-lowry-details-really-good-conversation-jo-rivera-son-elliott-came.html/”>Kailyn Lowry</a>, who left the series behind in 202, just explained why, exactly, the wigs became a “thing” on <em>Teen Mom</em>. </p>

<p id=”par-2_96″>Kailyn Lowry, who spent 12 years on <em>Teen Mom 2</em>, has just confirmed what loyal fans of the series have long suspected: many scenes are reshot days or months later. Lowry made the admission during an appearance on <em><a href=”https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-one-with-kail-lowry/id1494722390?i=1000714468229″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Give Them Lala</a></em>. During her interview, Lowery said MTV manufactured drama on the show, something she eventually began pushing back against. She also confirmed that ‘pickups” often led to cast members wearing terrible wigs. Lowry said, “They had us wearing wigs, or they’d have us, like, change our phone number contacts to a producer that was on set.”</p>

<p id=”par-3_71″>Fans of the series picked up on the wigs years ago, but it wasn’t exactly difficult to spot. <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/teen-mom-drama-jenelle-evans-slams-chelsea-houska-despite-houska-being-completely-neutral-about-evans.html/”>Chelsea Houska</a> and Leah Messer were among the most notable victims of wigs. Since both changed their hair so often, any pickups needed usually led to terrible wig choices. While Lowry’s explanation makes perfect sense, we still can’t figure out why hair and makeup couldn’t have done a better job installing the wigs.</p>

<p id=”par-4_102″>Kailyn Lowry’s recent admission wasn’t really a huge surprise. By now, most reality TV fans are aware that they’re not watching actual reality. Still, current and former stars speaking out have us wondering about the future of the genre. We have to wonder if the genre, as we once knew it, is officially dead. At the very least, fans think the <em>Teen Mom</em> franchise has outstayed its welcome. After all, we learn more about the lives of the stars on Instagram than on the show. Still, MTV has not officially stated whether it will be calling it quits on the long-running docuseries.</p>

<p id=”par-5_66″>The most recent season of <em>Teen Mom: The Next Chapter</em> ended on May 22. There are no plans, as of right now, for a third season. The network has paused production. Cast members connected to film <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/amber-portwood-claims-shes-going-to-get-teen-mom-the-next-chapter-canceled-was-she-fired.html/”>a reunion special,</a> but the camera crew has not been dispatched since then. Only time will tell what is going on, but viewership didn’t look great, according to several sources.</p>
