It’s that time of the week again when we get to see which TV series’ have been keeping Netflix subscribers glued to their screens. There’s a familiar mix of glossy drama, reality chaos and fairly grim true crime in the global top ten, with a few surprise climbers, a standout newcomer almost crashing into the top spot and a strong second week from our reigning champion. 10. Black Rabbit – 3,300,000 views last week

A rising New York bar and restaurant owner gets dragged into the criminal underworld when his unreliable and debt-ridden brother crashes back into his life and causes havoc. In Black Rabbit, Jude Law and Jason Bateman lead a sharp limited series that expertly blends family friction with mob pressure. It’s tight, stylish and very bingeable indeed. Doesn’t appeal? The pods move on over to Denver for this ninth run of the wildly successful dating reality show. As 32 singles try to get engaged without seeing each other first, then test their potential romance out in the real world. As a scary global conflict looms, the ultra-rich seal themselves in a luxury bunker where an old feud bubbles up. From Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, expect slick thrills and sharp elbows from this Spanish thriller as power games play out underground. Critics aren’t sold on this (it only has an approval rating of 35% on Rotten Tomatoes), but it’s proving popular anyway (Picture: Netflix)

A modern star chef time-slips to ancient Joseon and ends up cooking for a fearsome young king. Im Yoon-ah and Lee Chae-min front a playful period romance that dishes up historical intrigue with foodie flair. It’s another South Korean drama, but these shows aren’t just proving popular in Asia. 5. Ángela – 5,600,000 views

A seemingly happy wife trapped with an abusive husband finds dangerous temptation in a newcomer who offers a way out. Verónica Sánchez and Daniel Grao headline this tense Spanish series that’s doing very well, particularly in the Spanish-speaking world. Arisu and Usagi are drawn back into yet more deadly games as the hit Japanese survival mystery-thriller returns with a whole stack of new cards on the table. Higher stakes and familiar faces keep fans happy. For new viewers tempted by the idea of this survival series set in a parallel Tokyo? Comedian Mae Martin’s creepy thriller follows a small-town cop who suspects the local academy for troubled teens is hiding something really rather rotten. With Toni Collette adding star pull, this Canadian mystery relies heavily on its lead. But with one as reliably excellent as the Muriel’s Wedding and Hereditary star, that’s not an issue. It’s eerie, it’s unsettling and it’s the most-watched television series on Netflix right now (Picture: Netflix)
