Halloween is right around the corner, and many of us will be scouring streaming services for the perfect chilling film.

From bloody slashers to skin-crawling body horrors and supernatural flicks that will make you terrified of the dark, Netflix has plenty to offer in its catalogue.

But with so much choice, it can be hard to settle on a title – we all know the pain of scrolling for longer than we actually spend watching anything.

WDW Bingo has gone through all 280 horror films on Netflix UK and determined a score to rank the top titles, based on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB scores.

Harrison Score, Head of WDW Bingo, comments: ‘Nothing will quite get you into the Halloween spirit like a horror movie marathon.

5. Talk To Me

Kicking off our top five is Talk To Me, a devastating and nightmare-inducing exploration of grief and trauma from Michael and Danny Philippou, who brought Bring Her Back to our screens earlier this year.

Released in 2023, Talk To Me focuses on Mia (Sophie Wilde), a teenager navigating loss following the death of her mother.

She attends a party with her best friend Jade (Alexandra Jensen), where the group uses a mysterious embalmed hand to contact the dead. Mia becomes obsessed with the phenomenon, which has terrifying consequences for the entire group.

4. Don’t Breathe

After terrifying and disgusting audiences with his retelling of Evil Dead, Fede Álvarez chilled viewers to their core with the cat-and-mouse thriller Don’t Breathe.

After receiving a tip-off that Gulf War veteran Norman Nordstrom (Stephen Lang) has $300,000 in cash in his house in an abandoned Detroit neighbourhood, three friends start to spy on the house before finding out their target is blind.

Deciding to go ahead with their plan to rob him, they break in one night before things take a deadly turn, and they find themselves being hunted down in the home.

3. The Cabin in the Woods

Into the top three we have one of Chris Hemsworth’s earliest film appearances in the 2011 sci-fi comedy horror The Cabin in the Woods.

The film follows five friends who head to a remote cabin for a getaway, but things soon turn deadly when they are picked off one by one.

There’s far more to the cabin and the sudden onslaught of zombies that befalls it, as the group finds out when they uncover a terrifying conspiracy.

2. 28 Weeks Later

Fans flocked to Netflix to rewatch 28 Weeks Later earlier this year ahead of the release of the third film in the franchise, 28 Years Later.

Released in 2007 following the success of 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later is set after the events of the first film and follows the efforts of United States-led NATO forces to establish a safe zone in London.

It focused on the consequences of two young siblings breaking protocol to find a photograph of their mother, and the resulting reintroduction of the Rage Virus into the safe zone.

1. Barbarian

Swiping the number one spot of the best horror film to watch right now on Netflix is Barbarian, directed by Weapons’ Zach Cregger.

The film was Cregger’s solo screenwriting and directorial debut and took audiences by storm at the time of its release in 2022.

Barbarian follows Tess (Georgina Campbell) as she comes to learn that there’s something seriously grim lurking in the depths of her Airbnb.

Arriving to find the place already occupied by a man named Keith (Bill Skarsgård), Tess’s stay goes from bad to worse when they decide to investigate the things going bump in the basement.
