
Ike Turner Jr., the son of music icon Tina Turner, has died, aged 67.
Born in 1958 to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor, Ike Jr. was adopted by Tina Turner, along with his brother, Michael Turner, when she married their father in 1962.
‘Tina raised me from the age of 2. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,’ Ike Jr. once told the Mail on Sunday.
Turner remained out of the spotlight in spite of his famous parents, although he briefly worked as a sound engineer for his mother after her divorce in 1978.
News of his death was confirmed by Tina Turner’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, who revealed that he died on Saturdayat a Los Angeles hospital.
She told TMZ that he had heart problems for a several years prior to his death, including a stroke in early September.


A statement from Ms. Bullock read: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.
‘Junior was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together.’
Ike Jr. had suffered from kidney failure after years of poor health – and died one day after his birthday.

In addition to collaborating with his mother, Turner produced his father’s Grammy award-winning album Risin’ With the Blues in 2006.
He also performed with the Love Thang Band, alongside Sweet Randi Love and Jack Spade.
Of his famous parents, he told Mail on Sunday: ‘All I try to do is do the right thing with the name. I go out there and do my best.’


This comes 18 years after the death of Ike Sr, who died of a drug overdose in 2007, aged 76.
Simply the Best musician Tina Turner died in 2023, following a long illness at her home near Zurich, Switzerland.
In conversation with The Mail, Turner revealed that he had not had contact with his mother in some time.
‘I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when – probably around 2000. I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either,’ he said in 2018.
‘My mother is living her life – she has a new husband and she’s in Europe. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with the past.’
Tina had three other children; Craig, who she had as a teenager,Ronnie, who she shared with Ike Sr., and Ronnie.

On the subject of his parents’ infamously volatile relationship, Turner said: ‘My mother and father had no more fights than the people next door to you.
‘I think their problem was her mouth and his mouth – my father didn’t take s*** from nobody.’
Of his upbringing, he credited the Goldeneye singer with his own knack for music.
‘My first instrument was drums, until my mother started making me break my drums down every day, so the piano was always there,” he said on The Bobby Eaton Show.
‘So I started playing piano. I play guitar and bass. Everything except horn.’
