Tom Fletcher’s 11-year-old child, Buzz, has completely blown away Children in Need viewers with a powerful father-son duet.

The McFly frontman, 40, has clearly passed on his musical talents after taking to the stage with his oldest child to perform Tom’s original song, Thread of Hope, with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

Written for the upcoming BBC animation of his heartwarming children’s book, Pudsey and the Thread of Hope, the themes of love, loss and the eponymous hope – so sweetly sang – were enough to move fans to tears.

Especially those who have followed Tom and his young family – also his wife Giovanna, 40, and sons Buddy, nine, and Max, seven – over the years.

‘Tom and Buzz singing together is so adorable,’ X user Rebekah wrote.

‘Cannot cope with Tom and Buzz on Children in Need,’ Jade agreed.

‘Sorry but Tom is incredible in everything he does but his wee mini me (well he’s Gi’s spitting image) Buzz is stealing the show here! What a kind, talented young dude he is,’ Arlene reflected.

‘Seeing Tom and Buzz together on stage was emotional. i can’t believe how grown up Buzz is now, genuine tears in my eyes,’ Serene added.

‘What a star Buzz is. You must be so proud. And Tom, how you didn’t burst into tears when he said he wanted to follow in your footsteps i don’t know. Got me welling up,’ Rachel echoed.

Tom – who outside of McFly has made name for himself as a bestselling author and musical writer (his latest project, West End’s Paddington) – spoke about how important this moment was for the two of them.

As he explained to Newsround: ‘This is very special for me and Buzz because this is the first time we are performing with each other on TV.’

Over on BBC Breakfast, Tom added: ‘We’ve been singing together since Buzz was tiny, Buzz is always singing. Also I test out all of my books and stories so he’s very useful and very honest.’

Elsewhere, in a switch of mood, Lewis Capaldi performed his brand new single The Day That I Die.

Other stars causing a stir in the lead up to the big day also included BBC Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox who took on an epic 135 mile marathon which ultimately raised £9.5million for the cause.

All in all the tearjerking performance contributed to the grand total of the star-studded night which came in at a whopping £45.5million.

Pudsey and the Thread of Hope will air on the BBC over the Christmas period.
