Yin from The Traitor has revealed in a new interview that she had an impressive game plan for her stint on the show.

The BBC series returned on Wednesday night as the traitors and faithful were selected and the contestants were challenged with duping the high-stakes game of manipulation.

Unfortunately for Yin, she was the first contestant to be killed off as the traitors deemed the clever communications scientist a threat to their plot.

In a new interview with PA, the 34-year-old revealed that it was a ‘massive shock’ to learn that she had been selected by the traitors.

‘I had done my very best to not reveal many fundamental aspects of myself that would be a bit threatening, so for example my qualifications, my doctor of communication status, that PhD – didn’t say a single thing even remotely close to that to anybody in the castle or on the train,’ she said explaining that she tried to fly under the radar.

She then revealed she had a clever strategy involving a pink cardigan that may have helped her if she had been able to stay in the competition longer.

‘I packed 50 kilograms of clothing and accessories, and I did have a number of pieces that would further help reduce my potential threatening demeanour’, she explained.

She then revealed she planned to literally wear her heart on her sleeve in order to convince fans of her faithfulness.

‘So, for example, I had this lovely cardigan, which is solid pink with massive three-dimensional red hearts and bows on the sleeves all over.

‘My plan was, “Oh, how could I be a traitor? Like I’ve got literal hearts on my sleeves, and my face.”

‘I showcase my emotions too obviously,’ she admitted. ‘So that was the plan, to use clothing as another element of persuasion.’

Yin said the experience was relaxing (Picture: BBC / Listen Entertainment Ltd.)

The star then revealed that unlike many contestants who have already been in tears on the show, she actually found the whole experience very ‘relaxing’ and compared it to ‘therapy’.

‘One is that it is a very, very, very supportive environment, and to counteract all the backstabbing on screen, there’s a lot of love and welfare behind the scenes, and that was phenomenal.

‘And the second thing, is that for me personally, it didn’t feel very intense at all, which sounds crazy, it was like a mindfulness retreat, because I could, for the first time, really, in my life, focus on just this one thing without distractions of internet technology.

‘In my normal life, I’m doing 10 things at once, and I’ve got the internet, which is part of my job, and also just part of what I do, personally, always distracting me.

‘It was a relief to have the therapy of just having one thing to focus on,’ she said.

Fans are loving the third season (Picture: BBC / Studio Lambert)

The first episode of season three attracted around 5.1 million viewers according to overnight ratings and has gripped fans across the UK.

Fans have already speculated that one ‘cocky’ contestant is set to be eliminated, while others predict one contestant is about to make the ‘best play of all time’.

The Traitors continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
