The film stars Woody Harrelson who plays a veteran diver at the centre of an agonising rescue mission in the North Sea.

It also features Celebrity Traitors star Mark Bonnar as the dive supervisor giving orders from a control room.

Based on a true story, this thriller has left viewers on the edge of their seats.

It proved popular with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving 91% on the Popcornmeter, and has shown to be a hit with those watching in the UK, reaching number three on Amazon Prime Video’s movie chart.

Last Breath is the remarkable story of a diver who finds himself stranded at the bottom of the ocean after a deployment goes wrong.

Chris Lemons, played by Finn Cole, sees his umbilical line severed in an accident, leaving him floating away from his ship and crewmates.

Simu Liu plays fellow diver Dave Yuasa, who promises to come back for Lemons.

With only minutes of oxygen left in the lost diver’s tank, the pressure is on for the rescue team.

Difficult weather conditions, technical issues, and an immense amount of pressure to contend with make the crew’s mission even more challenging.

But viewers have loved the suspense.

Paul Wilburn gave it five stars on Google Reviews. He wrote: ‘I can say this is a thrilling, breathtaking movie filled with moments of edge of your seat gasps and, at times, tears for the guys who do this work, and the people who support them in it.’

Erin Andruss also loved it; she said: ‘Highly recommend this movie not only because of the great story but because of the amazing acting as well.’

‘This is a fabulous true story filled with tension, thrills and drama’, added Gerry Geoghegan.

Last Breath was released earlier this year and is a remake of the documentary with the same name and director. Alex Parkinson co-directed the 2019 film alongside Richard da Costa.

The real incident happened in 2012 off the coast of Scotland, 300 feet below sea level.

Deep-sea diver Duncan Allcock, played by Harrelson, met the Hollywood actor twice after going on set in Malta, where it was being filmed.

Allcock, who lives in Chesterfield but is from Bradford, recalled his introduction to Harrelson. Talking to BBC Radio Derby, he said: ‘The first thing he said was “I’m not doing the Yorkshire accent”.’

Last Breath is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
