TV fans binge all of Succession star’s ‘suspenseful’ thriller in one sitting

It’s sort of hard to imagine Sarah Snook as anyone but the casually cruel, bob-toting billionaire heiress Shiv Roy of Succession.

Since she turned out to be (spoiler!) not the inheritor of the Roy empire, but wife of heir apparent Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen), Snook has taken on a new show dramatic enough to try and wrest attention away from the dysfunctional family drama.

All Her Fault takes viewers into the psyche of every parent’s worst nightmare. Like The Missing before it, this heartbreaking drama revolves around a child who is abducted.

Based on Andrea Mara’s bestselling novel, the drama has been moved from Ireland to the US and into the privileged world of Marissa (Snook) – Shiv might be gone, but Snook’s wardrobe here is equal parts quiet luxury.

But her life with husband Peter (Jake Lacy, of The White Lotus season one) is knocked sideways when their young son Milo is abducted.

Marissa goes to pick up her five-year-old from a playdate with a new friend from school, but a woman she’s never seen before answers the door and denies all knowledge of Milo.

Panicky minutes turn into agonising hours, with no evidence of where Milo could be. His disappearance quickly becomes a major police operation and a huge story in the press. 

The show’s name is a clear indication of who the fingers are pointed towards. The nightmare scenario leaves Marissa trying to figure out what happened and find her son herself. 

If you’re going into this having read Mara’s book, the show preserves the famously unguessable string of twists – at least, according to those who have already tuned in.

TV fans have binged through the tense thriller, according to Google reviews, with Leah Souder admitting she watched all eight episodes ‘in one sitting’.

‘I’m usually good at predicting endings but this one was really really interesting, well thought out and perfectly executed,’ she said. ‘10s across the board on everything and I would absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys these types of shows.’

Meanwhile, Debbie Ginsburg wrote: ‘This was one of the best series that I have seen in a while… Keeping you guessing until the very last second.’

Victoria Johnston simply wrote: ‘So far, amazing!!! Storyline, acting, suspense, substance!!’
