A US television presenter was cut off mid-segment by his co-host after criticising Jennifer Aniston’s looks.
The former Friends star became the subject of conversation as Fox News’ The Five aired, led by Jesse Watters, Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld.
The panel had been discussing former Democratic congresswoman Katie Porter with co-hosts Katie Pavlich and Harold Ford Jr. when the awkward exchange aired.
As it began, Gutfeld argued that ‘people didn’t get attractive until the Internet.’
Using the cast of Friends as an example, he continued: ‘Watch Friends, they’re not even hot. Look at people now. They are so much better looking because all they gotta do is — they have everything at their fingertips.’
Controversial American commentator Watters wouldn’t let this remark go though – and derailed the segment by sharing his own opinion on Aniston’s looks.
Initially, Watters had agreed with Gutfield’s statement, replying: ‘It’s like Jennifer Aniston looks better now, like 20 years older.’
However, after a moment’s consideration, he (re)interjected.
‘I actually think Jennifer Aniston was much better looking in Friends. I don’t know why I said that. I think I meant she was more glamorous now. She’s more glam,’ he said.
‘Why don’t we get onto the next segment?’ Ford Jr. interrupted, as he attempted to get things back on track.
But first, Pavlich had to put in her five cents, sharing: ‘She’s richer now. Like, she has a lot of money. Money buys a lot of makeover for everyone.’
‘Well… I hope so,’ Watters muttered as the segment finally ended.
The piece may have finished, but commenters on social media wouldn’t let this slight on the former Rachel Green star stand.
‘I think we all looked more “glam” 25 years ago…’ commented CorkYou on X.
‘Betcha she’s not losing sleep over his opinion of her,’ said BarbaraLevitan.
‘Why would they be commenting on someone’s appearance period?’ asked carolinemorns.
‘NEWSFLASH Jennifer Aniston doesn’t think about you at all! I feel violated for her for you even thinking about her. 🤢🤮’ said KristinNoelle.
This comes weeks after the Murder Mystery actress opened up about her two-decade long struggle with fertility.
Aniston was subject to much commentary about her child-free status, throughout her high-profile marriages to Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux.
Speaking about the scrutiny she faced at this time, Aniston shared how she’d ‘tried to pursue a family for 20 years’ – but now found herself on ‘the other side’ of that struggle.
‘It’s so peaceful,’ she told co-host Monica Padman on an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast.
She continued: ‘But I will say there’s a point where it’s like out of my control. There’s literally nothing I can do about it.
‘When people say, “But you can adopt”, I don’t want to adopt.
‘I want my own DNA in a little person. That’s the only way, selfish or not, whatever that is, I’ve wanted it.’
On the media and public speculation over the subject, Aniston said: ‘They didn’t know my story. They didn’t know what I’d been going through for twenty years to try to pursue a family because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes.
‘That’s not anybody’s business. But there comes a point when you can’t not hear it – the narrative about how I won’t have a baby, won’t have a family, because I’m selfish, a workaholic.’
‘It does affect me – I’m just a human being. We’re all human beings,’ she added.
