Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke‘s son, Levon Hawke, 23, posed on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of his latest film project, “Marty Supreme” on Tuesday, December 16.

The ping-pong drama marks the young actor’s latest project following his appearances in the Western drama “The Thicket” starring Juliette Lewis, as well as Zoë Kravitz‘s directorial debut, “Blink Twice.” He also appeared in 2023’s “The Crowded Room,” a miniseries starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried.

It’s clear to fans just how much Levon resembles his two famous parents, much like his sister, Maya Hawke, who stars in Netflix‘s hit series “Stranger Things.”

Inside Josh Safdie’s Ping-Pong Dramady

The film’s official description states that it follows “Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects,” who endures immense hardship “in pursuit of greatness.”

The A24 sports film stars Chalamet along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O’Leary, Odessa A’zion, Abel Ferrara, Tyler Okonma, and Fran Drescher. Thurman’s son appears in the new movie as the character Christian, but there are no further details about his character yet, as the film has yet to be released in theaters.

It has received widespread critical acclaim, with many calling it a “career-defining performance” for Chalamet, who earned his first best actor nomination for 2017’s “Call Me By Your Name” at 22, becoming the third-youngest nominee ever in that category.

It is produced and directed by Josh Safdie, who co-wrote the script with Ronald Bronstein, loosely inspired by American table tennis player Marty Reisman. Josh has directed other indie films such as, “Uncut Gems” starring Adam Sandler and “Good Time” starring Robert Pattinson. Josh is best known for directing and writing his films with his brother, Benny Safdie, as the Safdie Brothers. But in 2024, Benny announced that he was breaking off from their partnership and going solo.

While rumors suggested that this decision was due to the brothers going through a falling out, Benny insisted that his split with Josh was amicable. “It’s a natural progression of what we each want to explore,” Benny said in an interview with Variety. “I will direct on my own, and I will explore things that I want to explore. I want that freedom right now in my life.”

This is Josh’s first solo project since 2008’s “The Pleasure of Being Robbed.”

“Marty Supreme” premiered at the 2025 New York Film Festival on October 6, 2025. It will be released in theaters on December 25, 2025.
