Sharon Chuter Was Memorialized in a Vogue Feature

On August 27, Vogue published a piece titled “Remembering Uoma Beauty Founder Sharon Chuter: The Fearless Visionary Who Refused To Compromise.” In it, the magazine calls Chuter “laser-focused” and “charming,” noting the “mischievous sparkle in her eye.”

The piece notes that along with being a role model and friend to many, she was also a dog mom, saying her dog Leo could be spotted either tucked into an Hermès bag, or being cradled in the Nigeria native’s arms.

The story says the artist launched her brand, Uoma Beauty, in 2019, and the line immediately stood out for being “disruptive” and “joyous.” Chuter’s 51 foundation shades, utilizing six different formulas to ensure as many customers as possible could find their perfect match, was the brand’s highlight.

Towards the end of the piece, author Funmi Fetto remembers Chuter’s voice as “funny, sharp, generous with laughter, but unyielding in her truth,” before saying, “It’s strange to think she is gone—at just 38-years-old. We truly have lost an unsung powerhouse, a fearless woman who dared to demand more.”
