A British star has been left looking completely unrecognisable after transforming into Alfred Hitchcock.

Tom Hollander is best known for his roles in Pride & Prejudice, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Valkyrie and Bohemian Rhapsody.

In recent years he’s also starred in The King’s Man, The White Lotus and in Ryan Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, in which he played the famed novelist Truman Capote.

The 57-year-old is now teaming up with Murphy again, this time for the third season of the hit Netflix series Monster, which has previously focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and brothers Lyle and Erik Mendendez, who were convicted of murdering their parents in the 1990s.

The next season is set to follow the crimes of Ed Gein, who in the 1950s gained notoriety after police discovered he’d exhumed corpses from graveyards around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, and fashioned keepsakes from their bones and skins.

He also confessed to murdering two women, with authorities also suspecting he was a serial killer. He died in a mental health facility in 1984.

Gein inspired the character of Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho, with Murphy announcing last month Charlie Hunnam would play the lead role in his upcoming series.

The Original Monster will explore Gein’s life as the ‘first celebrity killer’ and examine how the public’s obsession with true crime developed.

Laurie Metcalf will play Gein’s mother Augusta, while Tom plays Hitchcock and Olivia Williams is his wife, Alma Hitchcock.

The pair were seen filming on set in Los Angeles this week, however Tom’s appearance made many do a double take.

Sporting a more rounded figure, the actor was wearing suit and appeared to be wearing a bald cap that only had wisps of white hair.

At one point a crew member was captured trying to style the hairstyle, while at other points Tom was seen snapping photos and smoking a cigar.

Meanwhile Olivia, who has appeared in Hanna, Anna Karenina, Counterpart and The Crown, was snapped in a structured black dress and kitten heels, clutching a small handbag as she walked down the sidewalk.

Following the release of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story in September, which focused on the murder of Jose and Kitty Menendez by their two sons in 1989 and the intense interest in the case that followed in the years after, Murphy was slammed by the brothers.

While they called their portrayal in the series as ‘vile and appalling’, Murphy said the backlash from them and members of their family was ‘predictable at best’.

A California prosecutor recently requested that a court resentence the brothers, now aged 53 and 56, meaning the pair could possibly be released on parole.

‘I believe they have paid their debt to society,’ he said.

However, the district attorney added some officials in his office were against resentencing and might argue against it.
