Val Kilmer Opened Up About Dating Angelina Jolie

Actor Val Kilmer revealed details about dating Angelina Jolie and Jolie’s mother in his memoir.

According to The Independent, Kilmer wrote that he “couldn’t wait” to kiss Jolie “on a set” after co-starring as her husband in the movie “Alexander.” His memoir was called “I’m Your Huckleberry.”

He also opened up about Jolie’s mom, Marcheline Bertrand, who died after a battle with cancer. Kilmer died on April 1 of pneumonia after fighting throat cancer for years.

In the memoir, Kilmer opened up about his time with Jolie’s mother.

“I was around when Angie’s mom was losing her battle with cancer,” he said, according to The Independent.

“They were living in her mom’s favorite hotel. Or maybe it was Angie’s. I happened to be staying there myself. It was meaningful and mortal and effortless and exquisite,” Kilmer wrote.

He also wrote that he told the film’s director, Oliver Stone, that he would play Jolie’s husband if the movie showed them having “flashbacks to falling hard for each other and storming the castle with passion, before turning against each other.”

Kilmer was only married once to actress Joanne Whalley. But he also dated a string of prominent celebrities both before and after his marriage to Whalley. One of those stars was Jolie.

According to People magazine, Kilmer also wrote in his memoir, “I couldn’t wait to kiss Angie, buy her a Gulfstream jet and have a V+J painted in rainbow glory on the tail.”

He also noted, according to People, that Jolie was “oerhaps the most soulful and serious” of the women he dated, adding, “When people ask what she’s like, I say she’s like other women and other superstars, just MORE.”

According to People, they starred together in the film in 2004.

“I was recused from an icy inferno of solitude by another angel. Perhaps the most soulful and serious of them all. Angelina,” he also wrote, Parade reported.

He added, according to Parade, that Jolie was “more gorgeous, more wise, more tragic, more magic, more grounded. Is it worth it? Worth knowing people who require weeks of effort to understand even a little? Yes.”

According to Parade, by 2015, Jolie’s relationship with Kilmer was over as she met her future husband Brad Pitt on the set of their movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
