Matthew Lillard and Ryan Reynolds are using humor to respond to director Quentin Tarantino’s recent criticism of Lillard’s acting ability.
The two decided to record a brief video for a Mint Mobile ad campaign that was titled, “Everybody Loves Matthew Lillard.”
In front of a green screen, Lillard is seen smiling as Reynolds has a voice-over.
“There are only two things that are universally loved,” Reynolds said. “Saving money and beloved actor Matthew Lillard.”
“Oh! I appreciate it,” Lillard told Reynolds. He then humourously added, “I mean, itâs not unanimous, you know?”
In typical Reynolds humor, he proceeded to remove Lillard from the list and said, “Okay, thereâs only one thing thatâs universally loved.”
Lillard then playfully gets fake angry. “I’m not really sure why I’m here,” he added.
“I don’t care for the attitude Lil-lard,” the “Deadpool” actor can be heard telling him.
“Does the teleprompter say ‘Zoinks?’ I’m not saying ‘zoinks’!” the “Scobby-Doo” actor added.

While attending GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 6, Lillard responded to the comments that were made about himself.
The moment was captured and posted to TikTok.
âQuentin Tarantino this week said he didnât like me as an actor,â he stated, as the crowd began to boo.
âYeah, whatever. Who gives a [explicative],â he continued. âListen, the point is that it hurts your feelings. It [explicative] sucks.”
He added that he believes the comments wouldnât have been made to other actors.
“And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise,” he added. “You wouldnât say that to somebody whoâs a top-line actor in Hollywood.â
Lillard added that he is âvery popular in this room,” but he’s “not very popular in Hollywood.”
“Two totally different microcosms, right?” he said.. “And so, you know, itâs humbling, and it hurts.â
An audience member shouted that they love him, to which Lillard responded with gratitude.
