Actress Kelley Mack passed away on Saturday, August 2.

Her family released a statement on Tuesday, August 5, stating she passed away in her hometown of Cincinnati, according to their post on CaringBridge.

She was best known for playing Hilltop Colony resident Addy during the ninth season of the popular AMC show “The Walking Dead.”

They stated that she had been battling with glioma of the central nervous system.

The Cleveland Clinic describes it as a “tumor that forms in the brain or spinal cord.”

The 33-year-old also played Penelope Jacobs in Season 8 of “Chicago Med” and on FOX’s “9-1- 1.” She was also featured in multiple commercials that included Dr Pepper Fansville, Dairy Queen, Chick-fil-a, and two commercials for the store Ross.

Her family also shared the sad news on her Instagram page on Tuesday, August 5.

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go,” the statement began.

It continued, “Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies 🦋 ❤️. She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”


Her Family Penned a Heartfelt Letter

Before her passing, Mack’s family was updating fans on her health journey through CaringBridge. The family decided to share a touching two-page letter to the platform, expressing who Mack was.

“Kelley grew up in a close-knit family alongside her two younger siblings, including her brother, actor Parker Mack. Her vibrant spirit, creative passion, and dedication to storytelling left an indelible mark on those who knew her and the audiences she captivated through her work,” it stated. “Kelley’s love for storytelling blossomed at a young age when she received a mini video camera as a birthday gift.”

The letter expressed how “Kelley was known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering support for those around her.”

“She cherished time with her family and friends, finding joy in collaboration and storytelling. Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication to her work inspired countless others in the industry and beyond,” the letter noted. “Beyond her love for God, family and her career, Kelley enthusiastically enjoyed life.”

The letter added that there will be a remembrance for Mack in Glendale, Ohio, on August 16. Another celebration of life will occur in Los Angeles at a later date.


Tributes Pour In

Those that worked with Mack quickly took to social media to express their sadness over the news.

“I was lucky enough to create with Kelley on TWD. A bright light on every level. All my love to those who love her,” one wrote about their time they worked together on the popular show.

Another added, “I am so heartbroken to hear this news. I worked with Kelley at Gersh about 10 years ago. She was a kind, beautiful person.”

Actor Gustavo Gomez, who played one of the Hilltop residents named Marco, wrote, “This is heartbreaking. I feel so lucky that our paths crossed. Your bright light will always shine on.”
