Sydney Sweeney is turning her attention to her acting career after ending her engagement with Jonathan Davino, People reported on March 31.
“She’s exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects,” a source told the publication.
Sweeney’s upcoming projects include “Euphoria” season 3 and “The Housemaid,” which is based on the mystery book by author Freida McFadden.
“What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding. She didn’t feel right about it,” the insider revealed.
The unnamed source added, “She’s not ready to settle down. They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn’t split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now.”
On March 26, Us Weekly reported that Sweeney and Davino called off their wedding due to the “Anyone But You” star’s busy schedule.
“She doesnât have a lot of downtime, and it causes tension in their relationship. Sydney is really focused on her career. Jonathan wishes they were able to spend more quality time together,” a source said.
Sweeney’s Career is Thriving
Sweeney not only starred in “Anyone But You,” but she also was the executive producer of the rom-com.
“I love being able to have a seat at the table, have creative say over decisions that would help benefit the project, whether it be the character or budget or time frame, anything that I can do that can help the project succeed,” she told Vanity Fair in 2024.
“I love to help brainstorm and problem-solve because itâs a puzzle â youâre constantly trying to have all these moving pieces put together,” she added.
Sweeney said of the film’s success, “I loved it. I felt like none of it was forced on the audience. They really fell in love with it themselves and they shared that love with everybody. I love that the marketing came from them.”
Despite the “Sharp Objects” star’s rising star, she remains ambitious. “Itâs a weird feeling when people are like, ‘Oh, youâre successful,’ or say, ‘Youâve made it,’” she said in a 2024 interview with Glamour
“It doesnât feel like that because thereâs so much more I want to accomplish and achieve. I feel like Iâve barely scratched the surface of what Iâd like to do in my life,” she added.
Sweeney, who was named one of Glamour’s Women of the Year in 2024, told the publication that she’s proud of her accomplishments. “Iâm a very successful, independent woman whoâs worked really hard. Iâve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.”
