What Is ‘Hunting Wives’ On Netflix About?

While explaining the plot, Akerman teased “a lot of dangerous liaisons” that come about as Sophie becomes involved in the group. The show is based on May Cobb’s 2021 novel of the same name, but Akerman promised the show contains some fresh twists that will surprise readers. “Maybe we’ll bring a little creative liberty to it and give some surprises to all audiences,” she says the author, who is an executive producer on the project, decided.

Akerman’s costar, Brittany Snow, told TV Guide about the characters’ complexities in a July 17 interview, saying “there’s a lot of duality in this show.” She went on to reveal that “none of these characters are seemingly all good or all bad” and explained that their occasional clashes “make for a more interesting show than it just being all good friendships all the time.”

In the same interview, Akerman promised lots of “cliquey” small-town-esque drama. “I think we need that for this show because that’s what makes it juicy,” she said.
