Described in the official trailer, as a “social survival of the fittest,” the game pits 15 contestants—each working in persuasive professions—against one another in a series of mental and physical challenges.

The twist? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the winner of each round becomes “The Snake,” the most powerful player in the game. The Snake alone controls “The Saving Ceremony,” a chaotic, chain-reaction elimination round where connections and deception are just as important as performance.

Produced by “Jersey Shore” creator SallyAnn Salsano, “The Snake” puts a fresh, subversive spin on the survival game show format with a heavy focus on psychological gameplay, manipulation, and social strategy.

“Each contestant must leverage their unique skills, training and powers of persuasion as they face a multitude of challenges designed to showcase the traits needed to be successful in the game,” Fox said in a press release. “The Snake doesn’t just hinge on winning challenges — it’s about winning people over.”

Players form bonds—real or fake—and try to survive weekly eliminations by convincing The Snake they’re worth keeping around. The winner of the competition receives a grand prize of $100,000.

As reported by Variety, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn called the show “a universally appealing concept that will captivate audiences,” adding, “Trust me — ‘The Snake’ lives up to its name.”
