The Hallmark Channelâs newest movie, “To Barcelona, Forever,” premieres on Saturday, June 14, at 8 p.m. Eastern/ 7Â p.m. Central. The movie stars Alison Sweeney and Ashley Williams. Read on to learn all about where the movie was filmed and see behind-the-scenes cast stories.
‘To Barcelona, Forever’ Was Filmed in Barcelona, Spain
The sequel to “To Barcelona, with Love” was also filmed entirely on location in Spain. In fact, the two movies were filmed at the same time, Sweeney revealed in an interview with Us Weekly. They worked with a local crew in Spain and used local residents as extras.
According to 4Filming, much of the movie was filmed not only in Barcelona, but also in Bilbao. Filming took place in early 2025, with the cast and crew often working amid the real hustle and bustle of Spanish city life, sometimes even using local residents as extras.
Williams told Us Weekly that when they were filming a market scene, âSpanish people [were] coming to get their food for dinner that night, and theyâre just suddenly in the middle of our scene. It was partly, you know, the budget constraint, but that meant that we were able to bring the liveliness of the city into the movie. So you could feel the energy.â
This unique approach of embracing the culture and capturing the everyday life of locals who sometimes found themselves in the middle of a scene, brings a unique energy to the film, making the viewer feel as if theyâre right there in Spain.

Sweeney and Williams started a podcast based on the Barcelona movies. Williams wrote: âItâs pretty unfiltered behind the scenes convos about the shooting of these movies in Barcelona, complete with insider mostly embarrassing stories such as when I barfed on Las Ramblas in between takes.â
