
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is expanding both her family and her place in history.
The 28-year-old political figure revealed via Instagram on Dec. 25 that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 60, are expecting their second childâa baby girl due in May 2026. The couple are already parents to 17-month-old son Niko, born in July 2024.

âThe greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for â a baby girl coming in May 2026,â Leavitt wrote in the heartwarming post. âMy husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and canât wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.â
Leavitt shared the announcement alongside festive photos of herself posing in front of a Christmas tree in a white sweater dress, gently cradling her baby bump.
Followers quickly took to the comments to share congratulations and well wishes with one writing, “OMG!!! Merry Christmas and congrats!!!! What a blessing” and another adding, “Congratulations! Exciting for you and your family. Know that you’ll be missed during your mat leave.”

According to a senior White House official who spoke with Fox News Digital, Leavitt will continue serving in her high-profile role throughout her pregnancy. The move makes her the first sitting White House press secretary to remain in the position while expecting.
In a statement to Fox, Leavitt also thanked her colleagues for fostering what she described as a âpro-family environmentâ inside the administration.
âNearly all of my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working,â she said.
According to People, Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, got engaged during the 2023 holiday season after three years of dating. The couple welcomed their first child the following summer, with Leavitt returning to the campaign trail for Trumpâs 2024 presidential shortly after giving birth.
The couple recently celebrated their sonâs first birthday in July 2025, with Leavitt posting a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.
“Today my sweet, happy, sensitive, funny, and handsome baby turned one. What a year it has been. There are no words to describe how much I love this little boy,” she captioned the post, adding, “I thank God every day for making me his mommy. Happy 1st Birthday, my beautiful son. Mama and Dada love you so much.”
