On May 21, 2025, Tina Knowles spoke out to ExtraTV about why she hopes Blue Ivy Carter doesn’t follow in her famous mother’s footsteps.
The doting grandmother acknowledged the joy of seeing Blue shine onstage during the “Cowboy Carter” tour. “I just see the confidence. She’s growing everyday. Blue is tall. She’s like 5’9, and she’s 13 years old. She’s got the model pose, she’s strutting, and she’s confident,” she said.
Still, the mother of Solange and Beyoncé revealed that she wants Blue to stay away from a career in show business.
“My hope for her is that I wish she would do something else. I hope that she doesn’t go into entertainment,” Knowles admitted.
The former salon owner explained further, “Just because I think it’s a huge sacrifice. It’s a huge sacrifice on your life. But if she chooses to do it, I’ll be upfront screaming and cheering. But hopefully she’ll choose something else.”
Knowles also spilled that Beyoncé’s motivation for allowing Blue to appear onstage was because the teenager “got her confidence there.”
Tina Knowles Said She Isn’t Used to the Spotlight
Knowles said being in front of the cameras during her book tour for “Matriarch” has been different for her, because she’s usually backstage.
“It’s been fun, it’s been great. I’ve met such interesting people,” the 71-year-old gushed. She said she’s “happy and thrilled” at the response the project has received.
She also detailed the effort she put in to make sure everyone who was mentioned in the book felt respected. Knowles said she sent everyone their own parts to obtain approval before publishing. “I wouldn’t dare just write it and put things out. Because some of the things, I just wanted to know how they felt about it,” the seamstress explained. She said she was delighted and surprised not to receive any objections to the tales she chose to include.
