Why Critics of Season 2 ‘With Love, Meghan’ Find the Show ‘Baffling’

After news broke that a certain pop star and NFL player got engaged, there really wasn’t room for much else in the entertainment news cycle on Aug. 26. Although not too many people took notice, there were a few other things that did happen, including Season 2 of Meghan Markle‘s lifestyle show quietly dropping on Netflix.

Amid the initial buzz of the biggest engagement news of the year, maybe of the last decade, people diverted their attention to other things as well. But that wasn’t necessarily a good thing for Prince Harry’s wife.

The “second season” of With Love, Meghan was shot at the same time the first season was but the 16 episodes were split up into eight episodes and released at different times. However, much like with the first season, critics have overwhelmingly slammed season 2. But despite the brutal views, we may actually get a third season of With Love, Meghan.

The description for Season 2 of With Love, Meghan reads: “It’s all about embracing playfulness over perfection and finding joy in creating together … the duchess welcomed a new host of chefs, artists, and friends to Montecito, including Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, David Chang, and Jay Shetty. Drawing on her years of home cooking and entertaining, Meghan shows us how to experiment with bold flavors in the kitchen, and approach doable but delightful DIYs that fill our cups — as well as satisfy our appetites.”

So what are the critics saying?

<a href=”https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/with-love-meghan-netflix-season-2-review/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Telegraph called Meghan’s show “More tone-deafness from the Montecito Marie Antoinette.”

<a href=”https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2025/aug/26/with-love-meghan-season-two-review-so-painfully-contrived-that-its-genuinely-fascinating” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Guardian‘s reviewer opined that the show is “so boring, so contrived, so effortfully whimsical.”

<a href=”https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-15035225/Critics-reviews-Meghan-Markles-Netflix-season-2-contrived-nano-celebrities.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Daily Mail found the new season to be “staged, fake, and dull. ”

The Times critic Hilary Rose wrote, “With Love, Meghan is baffling. It occupies the sweet spot where irrelevant meets intolerable. It’s like an advert for somewhere we’ll never go and aren’t invited, an ego trip in a sun hat that boils down to this: Meghan is pretty and likes roast chicken and flower arranging.”

And that’s just the British publications. A well-known and trusted American outlet slammed the series, too as <a href=”https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/with-love-meghan-season-2-review-1236353919/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Hollywood Reporter said: “With Love, Meghan sticks to the original recipe in season 2, unfortunately … the host and executive producer’s lack of substitutions makes for an equally bland second season.”

There could be a Season 3 of ‘With Love, Meghan’

<figure class=”wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter” id=”emb-2″>

Meghan Markle’s ‘calculated’ Netflix show ‘With Love, Meghan’ Season 2 bashed by UK critics: ‘Woman in need of some cash’ https://t.co/lDV28Ou66J pic.twitter.com/6ytMrxSPaf
— New York Post (@nypost) August 26, 2025

Something else people have found “baffling” about season 2 of With Love, Meghan is a report that Rotten Tomatoes has blocked viewers from leaving reviews for season 2.

One user took to <a href=”https://www.reddit.com/r/SaintMeghanMarkle/comments/1n1le4b/has_rotten_tomatoes_blocked_viewer_reviews_of_the/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Reddit, noting, “Not only are there no user reviews, but there is no place for anyone to leave reviews. Under Season 1, if you scroll down, you can click on a star rating and leave a review; the feature is not available under Season 2 … so the Popcornmeter is blank.”

And in what might be baffling to Meghan’s critics, there’s word that the Duchess of Sussex wants to do a third season and Netflix is totally on board with that.

As Daily Mail reporter Alison Bishoff wrote in her article for the publication: “There will be a third series of the duchess’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, if she wants to make one and I hear she does.”
