<p id=”par-1_34″>Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s past associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have cost them just about everything in terms of the royal life and the accommodations they enjoyed for so long. </p>
<p id=”par-2_24″>When more stories surfaced recently about Andrew and Sarah’s relationship with Epstein, Andrew had no choice but to <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/prince-andrew-no-choice-drop-royal-titles-expert-says.html/”>relinquish his Duke of York title</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-3_66″>In a statement, Andrew said, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the royal family … With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”</p>
<p id=”par-4_17″>That move also meant that Sarah could no longer use her <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/why-is-sarah-ferguson-still-a-duchess-after-her-divorce-from-prince-andrew.html/”>Duchess of York title</a> either. </p>

<p id=”par-5_50″>But the public continued to voice their displeasure with Andrew, especially since he and Sarah were still living in a lavish 30-room mansion in Windsor Park. So King Charles decided to come down harder on his sibling and stripped him of his prince title, which Andrew had held since birth.</p>
<p id=”par-6_66″>Buckingham Palace’s statement read: “His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”</p>
<p id=”par-7_31″>Even before King Charles brought down the hammer on his brother, it was decided that neither Andrew nor Sarah would be joining the family in public for their Christmas morning walk.</p>

<p id=”par-8_76″>One of the family’s traditions is to walk from their Sandringham House to St. Mary Magdalene Church each Christmas morning and greet the crowds of well-wishers gathered there to see them. The monarch had already banned his brother and Fergie from joining them this year. But it was reported that Andrew would still be elsewhere on the estate since he was moving out of Royal Lodge to a private home on the estate in Norfolk. </p>
<p id=”par-9_45″>Well, now plans have changed. To avoid the disgraced royal being seen in or the Sandringham House that day and creating any sort of distraction, the Palace announced that Andrew and Fergie would not move out of Royal Lodge till after the new year. </p>
<p id=”par-10_67″>Both Andrew and Sarah will be gathering with the rest of the royals on Dec. 12 for their granddaughter’s christening as Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have invited family and friends to the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace for the ceremony. But as far as seeing either Andrew or his ex-wife at any public royal events in the future, those days are over. </p>
