Dominik Mysterio has insisted he’s already surpassed the talents of his WWE Hall of Famer father Rey Mysterio.

The 25-year-old superstar, who is part of a stacked roster on WWE 2K25, claimed while he’s ‘always’ striving to improve, he feels like he’s overtaken his famous masked luchador dad in the ring.

He exclusively told Metro: ‘I’m always learning, you know. But at the end of the day, everyone said, “You’re never going to get out of your dad’s shadow”.

‘And it’s been, what, four years? And I’m already way better than he ever was.’

Rather than taking inspiration from his own dad, Dirty Dom has instead been heavily influenced by Eddie Guerrero, who claimed to be his real dad in a memorable storyline back in 2005.

‘Everything that I do, it has meaning,’ he said. ‘So, like the mullet, the stash, I pay homage to him in every way that I can.’

Being so young when he got involved in Rey and Eddie’s on-screen rivalry, Dom wasn’t able to realise the enormity of what he was part of, but he now understands the full extent.

‘Honestly, it it was such a pleasure to be able to work with him, because looking back at it now, [I was] so young, so I didn’t realise the greatness I was in,’ he pondered.

‘So like, he fact that I can look back at it now and realise it was such an honour to just be in the ring with him, doing a story with him, it’s been really, really good.’

Eddie’s memory remains a positive influence, while Dom acknowledged the way Judgment Day – which currently features Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez – have helped him over the years.

‘They’ve been huge. You know,it’s literally what you see, we’re a big family. We help each other in every way, shape and form that we can. And it’s just, it’s been amazing,’ he added.

It’s not always been smooth sailing for the group, who ditched members Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley last year.

‘We got rid of Rhea for a reason, you know? But now, with the addition of Liv and even Carli too, it’s been great, and the chemistry is still there,’ he said. ‘We’re still Judgment Day. We’re better than ever.’

There could be cracks showing after tomorrow night, with both Dom and Finn Balor challenging for Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship, while Penta finishes the rest of the fold.

‘We got my boy Finn Balor in there,’ Dom said. ‘There’s a better chance of the Judgment Day coming out on top. So as long as the Judgment Day walks out with gold, I’m happy!’

WWE WrestleMania 41 continues on Netflix live at midnight tonight. All WWE shows are available on the streamer in the UK. WWE 2K25 is out now.
