Prepare for a sweet dose of weekend wedding wholesomeness, because two X Factor sweethearts have tied the knot.
Emily Middlemas, now 26, first auditioned for Simon Cowell’s ITV singing show in 2014, but didn’t make it to live shows.
However, everything happens for a reason, and she returned two years later to reach the semi-final. Not only that, but her boyfriend, Ryan Lawrie, now 29, was also a contestant that same year.
Teenagers at the time, they had started dating in 2015 and made no secret of their romance, leaving Emily in tears when Ryan was eliminated against controversial rapper Honey G.
Fast forward to 2025, though, and both are thriving in their respective music careers and now have another thing to celebrate after becoming husband and wife.
Taking to Instagram on Friday evening, Emily, who performs under the stage name ili, shared a series of photographs from her special day, adding the caption: ‘Mr & Mrs Lawrie 👰🏻♀️💍🤵🏻’

Ryan, who pens tunes for other artists as KoolKid, reposted them on his page, later sharing a cosy snap of their new ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’ mugs. He added: ‘Thank you to everyone who attended our big day & for all your beautiful cards/gifts. It means the world to us. Lots of love ❤️’
The wedding between the two Scottish performers looked a real hoot, as videos captured a lively dancefloor complete with glowsticks and drummers.
Keeping with tradition, Ryan wore a kilt, while Emily stunned in a strapless white gown and pearl jewellery, completing her bridal ensemble with a pastel bouquet. Of course, they were joined by their adorable pooch, Bowie, for the occasion.
The newlyweds were soon flooded with congratulatory messages after announcing their nuptials, as fellow 2016 X Factor star Gifty Louise commented: ‘Congratulations guysssssssss 😩😩😩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️’
Oritse Williams of JLS, for whom Ryan has written songs, commented: ‘Congrats brotha 🤎’
‘Congratulations! Crying you guys are the CUTEST EVER🤍🥹’, added @chloeforddddd.

‘you look like a princess emily 🥹✨ congratulations mr and mrs lawrie ❤️❤️’, wrote @errinmorrison_.
Emily and Ryan announced their engagement in June 2022 after he popped the question while on holiday at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt.
Sharing a selfie to capture their joy as Emily flaunted her dazzling ring, Ryan declared in his caption: ‘SHE SAID YES!!!!!!!💍’
Since their talent show days, they have bought their first home together and continued sharing a glimpse inside their romance via social media.
As far as music is concerned, Emily became an independent artist in 2019, adopting her stage name and dropping her debut EP, Changes.
She’s since performed at various festivals around the country and released a number of singles, such as Breath, Time Goes By, Tongue Tied, and Gelato.

Earlier this year, she was a co-writer on Switzerland’s Eurovision Song Contest entry Voyage, which was performed by Zoë Më and finished in 10th place.
Meanwhile, Ryan has penned tracks for some of the biggest names in the industry, clocking up over a billion streams.
Most famously, he wrote Mikrokosmos for South Korean boyband BTS, which has over 360,000,000 listens on Spotify alone.
His other writing credits include Shadow for SEVENTEEN, Deja Vu for TOMORROW X TOGETHER, which was nominated for a VMA, and Open Always Wins, which was in collaboration with Samsung Galaxy for the Olympics.
