Former X Factor star Cher Lloyd has announced she’s got plans to release new music this year.

The singer, 31, rose to fame competing on the ITV talent show in 2010, finishing in fourth place behind Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction.

Following the series she was signed to Syco Music, releasing her debut album Sticks and Stones in 2011 and included the singles Swagger Jagger, With Ur Love and Want U Back.

Her second album, Sorry I’m Late, followed in 2014 before she had a two-year break following the album’s poor reception after the success of its predecessor.

In the years since she’s released singles in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

However, fans have been left delighted after Cher revealed she was set to release new music this year, a decade after her last album.

Posting a selfie on social media this week, the singer captioned the post: ‘Happy new year! I think it’s time for some new music 👀 …. this is not a drill!!’

The news sent fans into a frenzy, with many sharing their excitement.

‘You do not understand how excited we all are,’ Lea commented.

‘So proud of you. we know how hard you’ve worked to get this music out to us. So so so grateful ♥️♥️ here’s to 2025 – the year of Cher Lloyd!’ Dillon shared.

‘BEEN WAITING SO LONG,’ Josh added.

Last year Cher made her return to the stage after a two-year break, performing at the Mighty Hoopla festival.

It came after she spoke about polarising the public during her time on X Factor in a 2020 interview.

‘I was a naive 16-year-old, who came from such a small, shielded town where bad things didn’t happen,’ she told The Sun.

‘I could deal with the pressures of performing at the drop of a hat, that wasn’t the part I struggled with – anything creative was a dream for me.

‘When it came to the world of showbiz and gossip, that’s when it started to crumble, and the dream turned into a little bit of nightmare. I feel like I was thrown to the wolves, and it was so mentally damaging.’

Cher went on to marry Craig Monk in 2013, and the couple share two children together, Delilah-Rae, 5, and Eliza Violet who was born in September.
