Microsoft’s ROG Xbox Ally handhelds are officially up for pre-order, and the price will make you glad you’re not living in the US.
We’re less than a month away from Xbox’s first jump into the handheld gaming market, and you can now officially pre-order one yourself.
The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X are Xbox-branded versions of Asus’s existing PC handheld devices, albeit with some improvements and a new Xbox interface.
Microsoft officially announced a release date last month, but with several pre-order pages live, we now have confirmation on the UK and US prices.
When does the ROG Xbox Ally launch and how much does it cost?
The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X will launch worldwide on October 16, 2025.

In the UK, the standard ROG Xbox Ally costs £499.99, while the superior ROG Xbox Ally X is £799.99. This is in the same ballpark as Asus’s recent devices and lines up with past leaks.
If you’re in the US however, the tariff situation has clearly impacted the final price – with the models priced at $599.99 and $999.99, respectively. The latter is a massive $200 increase over the prior ROG Ally X model.
Microsoft previously told IGN they were holding off from announcing the price because they needed ‘more time to figure out the macro-economic impact to pricing’, seemingly in reference to the fluctuating US tariffs.
Where can you pre-order?
Both handhelds are available to pre-order at several retailers in the UK, namely the Asus website, the Microsoft Store, Currys, and Argos. You can also register interest at EE and Smyths.
